TF

TF stands for True Friend.  This is because TF and I always have each other’s backs and we do things that only TF’s would do.  We work in cubes right next to each other and eavesdrop on each other all day.  We also IM each other all day.  And gossip.  We rarely do any work together.  TF is practically married to a perfect CT man named JG.  They met in college and I have to admit, even though I usually prefer to hate on people who are in perfectish relationships, he is pretty great.  TF and I met about a year ago when I started at my current job… all I have to say is… THANK GOD FOR TF AT WORK.  I would die without her… LITERALLY DIE.  TF is also my workout buddy.  She makes me go for runs with her and gives me sass when I whine about it.  I would say my favorite thing about TF is that I bring her ANYWHERE and she makes friends with everyone and makes everyone comfortable and happy and in love.  She has a ton of friends and I doubt any enemies (except all the guys I make her pretend to flirt with in the bar as my wingwoman and then it turns out she is taken)  She is skinny and gorgeous, also.

Likes: salad, Pinot Grigio, chick flicks, good books, working out, coffee, breaking rules, articles, me

Dislikes: animals of all kinds, laundry, pastries

Shorty

Shorty is pretty much my significant other.  She is my roommate.  We do everything together.  Usually this “everything” I refer to is… nothing.  We really like to do nothing together.  We’re actually experts at it.  This includes watching an absurd amount of television/movies, eating fast food, general lounging, etc.  We have a knack for wasting time.  So if we need to meet people at 9 or something and we start figuring out our plan to get out the door at 5ish… we usually will arrive around 10/1030.  I think we actually have the exact same sense of humor.  We met in college when we both in our school’s abroad program in The Netherlands… we have a pretty strange story of how we came to be besties; remind me to tell it on a slow blog day.  The best thing about Shorty is that she knows absolutely every terrible thing about me and still thinks I am the greatest.  She tells me when I am being ridiculous (a lot) and just keeps me in line in general.  She laughs at almost all of my jokes, which warms my heart and makes me feel important.  I would do almost anything to have her around.  In fact, I think I get cranky if she isn’t around me.  If one of us was male, we would 100% be married.  Sometimes we get really sad that one of isn’t.  She has managed to find a suitable male replacement, however, in Big Mo.  Big Mo is pretty much the male counterpart to us, and I am often their third wheel.  He takes good care of us both (surprisingly, he seems to have no problems with the fact that if you date Shorty, you have to take care of both Beth and Shorty).  She is moving to California to work in entertainment marketing in a year and this makes it hard to breathe if I think about it too long.  She is my heart.

Likes: sushi, kittehs, TV programs, long showers, J. Crew, laughing, California, Big Mo, dancing, music

Dislikes: neutral colored cars, our landlords, RI drivers

Mom

Mom is my bestie from high school.  We were soulmates the minute we met at a 10th grade sleepover.  We were creepy obsessed with each other in high school, and this is OK.  I call her Mom, I call her Mom Mom, I call her Dad Dad.  I kind of want to marry her brother.  I was lucky enough to go to college in the same city as Mom (OK, well actually I went to a state school in NY my freshman year and transferred to a school in Boston to copy her… FINE.)   Mom is… hi.lar.i.ous.  In fact, the last time we hung out, I think we sat on my couch for 2 hours straight playing “who would you rather sleep with.”  Two hours.  This can’t be normal.  I can (and do) tell her everything and she also tells me when I am being ridiculous (this is a must-do for all of my friends, actually.)  She is sassy and hot and athletic.  She also has a boyfriend, we’ll call him BK (all of my friends are taken… it sucks).  We have the same dance moves.  Sometimes when I don’t see her for a few weeks, I get this crazy feeling that I will die if I don’t see her assoonashumanlypossible.  Sometimes when I can’t figure something out, she is the only person that will say what I need to hear.  She might know me better than I know myself.

Likes: seafood, emo music from the early 2000’s, camping, Petey, wearing $200 jeans and chucks, our hometown, me

Dislikes: being bored, jelly, smoking

KT

KT and I moved across the street from each other in the suburbs when she was 9 and I was 8.  She moved from the city and I moved the country.  She came up to my door and asked if I could come out and play.  Then she asked me if I knew what “dis” meant (I didn’t but she was happy to tell me) and told me her best friend was named Latoya.  I’ve been obsessed with her and looked to her to learn about life ever since.  I was lucky enough to have her go to school in Boston as well (seriously, who gets both their best friends from their hometown in the same city as her for college?!) and for awhile we lived across the street from each other there.  She is my lifelong neighbor.  She is my most trusted shopping partner and restaurant diner.  She has always looked out for me with fierce loyalty that I rarely deserve.  She is the one person that I know without a doubt would defend me to her last breath were anyone to say something negative about me in her presence.  She has seriously amazing fashions and a boyfriend we’ll call AB (yep, another one with a boyfriend.  That makes all four.  See what I mean??  Not FAIR).  She is my family, no doubt about it.  Being around her is like breathing.

Likes: candy, fashions, her family, Boston, expensive meals, the Disney Channel, me

Dislikes: pasta, Uggs, ill-fitting clothes

See how lucky I am?  I have four best friends: one from childhood, one from high school, one from college, and one from work.  It really is probably the reason I am always single.  Who needs a boyfriend when you’ve got friends like this.

Eesh.  Now I have to go before I start getting emotional.
